In today’s internet driven-era, most music blog fiends, A&Rs and so-called “fans” seem more eager to seek the next big thing to praise on Twitter or re-blog on Tumblr than actually enjoying the music. Nowadays people are to quick to leave behind artists that have build up a respectable catalog over sharing a viral video from a new kid that dresses kind of funky, has one-or-two catch phrases and most likely will never put out a full body of work that’s worth listening. Take away all the banal buzz created by hypebeasts and you will truly realize if an artist is worth paying attention too, yet a lot of people are not really interested in that anymore.
ShowYouSuck has consistently churned out quality material that has progressed not only sonically, but concept-wise as well, since he delivered the first One Man Pizza Party ’tape back in 2011. A prime example is the OMPP 4-exclusive cut “Flip Phone,” a mellow ode to a tumultuous relationship with a girl who apparently did not get the memo regarding Razr-type phones being outdated for more than half a decade. Nonetheless, his latest EP DudeBro lacked the support and excitement from a handful of blogs that had previously clamored for Rest In Pizza before its release.
